It had been a scorching hot test day but fortunately the temperature had cooled a little for Saturday mornings qualifying session.

 They drew 18^th place for the starting grid, not great but better than some draws this season.

“It was our best qualifying session of the year, third or fourth at one time. We damaged a splitter avoiding an incident but made no changes to the car after testing. Having Max Hart coaching us paid dividends and it felt   good for the race,” said Holme.

A first corner collision meant the first 25 minutes of the race were behind the safety car, with Holme running 16^th.

“I almost got caught in the incident at Paddock, I was close behind two cars and it suddenly all concertinaed. Then the car in front didn’t close up behind the safety car and I spent my whole stint chasing to catch the group ahead,” said Holme.

He was one of the last to make the first mandatory stops too, handing to Nunn after 42 laps in 10^th place.

15^th at the end of the first hour, Nunn then began to make progress and settled in 12^th for a number of laps before handing back to Holme 14^th.

They were still in 14^th at the two hour half distance mark, but a top 10 finish remained the target and as they entered the final hour, 11^th place made it possibility, but it wasn’t to be.

Holme handed back to Nunn for the final stint and their pursuit of the Seed Data car continued.

“We deserved a top 10 or more, as we had really good pace all day, but an accumulation of things killed it. The first corner incident, being held up at the restart, Nick got a penalty and then had a car spin right in front of him. Aaron had to fix a problem when we were forced off through the gravel and lost power, we were still playing catch up. We only just missed out, but it was a case of what might have been,” Holme concluded.
